A
few years ago, a young man named Lynn Jenkins Jr., moved
to the Reno area from San Jose, Calif. He asked the brother's
Redick if they had interest in starting an avionics shop
at Aviation Classics Ltd. Until then, ACL had been performing
some simple pitot-static checks and doing some radio installations
in jet warbirds, but in fairness it could hardly be said
the company had a bona fide avionics shop. Things have
changed just a bit!
With his 13 years of experience as an avionics installer,
after growing up around aviation (his father was well
known as a technical writer for the American Bonanza Society),
Jenkins, ACL's avionics manager, was the right person
in the right place at the right time. He has built Aviation
Classics' avionics shop into a world-class FAA approved
avionics repair station. ACL is today a Class 1, Class
2, and Class 3 repair station, with an added limited instrument
rating.
Aviation Classics, which has dealer agreements with S-TEC,
GANI, NAT, IlMorrow/Apollo, DAC/Sandel, Insight and Northstar,
is the top seller of Garmin Products in Nevada. In addition,
ACL has become a preferred dealer for PS Engineering.
Describing Jenkins' impact on and value to ACL, Redick
said, "Lynn Jenkins has been a great asset to our
company. More
than anyone else he is responsible for the success of
our avionics shop and the increase in our general aviation
maintenance traffic.

|
He
is one of those exceptional employees who exerts
a great deal of effort to see that the customers
are satisfied, and that they leave our shop feeling
they have been treated fairly. Our customers have
shown that they appreciate his efforts, and the
efforts of our crew, by bringing their airplanes
back to us again and again." |

One
of Jenkins' strengths is his ability to recommend
changes in equipment to the customers.
"Nine
times out of 10, it gives them the capabilities
they want, and usually for less money,"
Redick continued. "Lynn cares about the
customer and the reputation of our shop."When
you walk into the hangar at Aviation Classics,
it's like a What's What in vintage aircraft.
It is the exception to the rule when there isn't
an interesting mix, to say the least....
